With 220 litres of avgas in the extra tank, we took off with Marie on the last flight over Africa. Virtually the whole coast consists just of extensions of the Sahara. The scenery was impressive and we really enjoyed the view. For approx. two and a half hours before reaching our destination we flew over the Atlantic - directly to Gran Canaria.
For this flight over the ocean, we did of course have the inflatable safety rafts ready behind the seats. About 130 miles before our destination, we already saw land on the horizon. The approach was easy, we just had to let a faster plane go in front of us.
After landing, the extra tank was refuelled with 230 litres of avgas for the flight to Lisbon.
