01.11.2010 Split: We gain a brief impression of Split during the 30-minute drive from the airfield to Hotel Le Méridien. The weather isn't all that great. It's blowing a gale and it's hazy. We see palm trees at the sides of the road and a lot of olive trees. At the hotel, we treat ourselves to the famous landing beer. I enjoy a wonderful piece of tuna and Martin tucks into a steak. We prepare the flight for the next day and hear the raining coming down outside.

The next morning, we're awakened by a thunder storm and lightning. It's pouring with rain. Not the kind of weather we really wanted in Split. But we have our breakfast first and wait to see what happens. The weather forecast for our flight is not particularly good. There's an area of low pressure, very close to Split.

On the drive to the airfield, this time stuck in a traffic jam during the rush hour, the rain does eventually stop. The thunder clouds withdraw land inwards. The nearer we get to the airfield, the brighter it becomes. So we're still hoping to have a good flight.
