14.03.2007 Hanover: As starting and landing point fits Hanover in the concept of our world circular flight very well, because the city has international contacts. The capital of Lower Saxony is as an exhibition place of global importance. The largest industrial exhibition of the world and the most important worldwide computer fair CeBit annually tighten hundreds of thousands of visitors from all continents. During the fair days becomes the Airport Hanover, from which we started our flight around the world, to the international traffic turntable. 5.7 Mil. passengers were started and landed by the Airport in Langenhagen in 2006.

Almost unknown is meanwhile that Hanover was one of the scenes of early aviation history. The general aviation terminal, in which our farewell party took place, carries the additional designation „Karl Jatho Terminal“. Thus a pioneer of the aviation is appreciated, who completely stands in the shade of the American brothers Orwille and Wilbur Wright, although Karl Jatho was faster than the Americans.

The Hanoverian magistrate employee Jatho succeeded in the 18-meter far jump in just a meter of height with a 3-decks-engine kite in the “Vahrenwalder Heath” near Hanover on the 18th August 1903.
In the November of the same year Jatho got with a so-called „bi-plane“ several flights to 60-meter width and good three meters of height. Nearly at the day exactly four months after Jatho´ s first jump, the brothers WRIGHT managed in the sand dunes of Kitty Hawk in the USA the probably first engine flight of the aviation history, on 17 December 1903.

While the brothers WRIGHT helped themselves to a catapult takeoff device and used, in addition, the slope upwind, Karl Jatho took off only by engine force of even earth. Besides, Jatho was conscious, long before somebody regarded this topic as important in the USA, the necessity of a “landing field” for engine flights.

Thus he is to be considered as an initiator of the first airport of the world. On 31st July 1907, on Jatho ´s suggestion there was approved the building of the first “roadway for flight machines” on the Hanoverian “Vahrenwalder Heath” (Other information www.karl jatho projekt.de).

We would be glad, if our world circular flight can just put these historical facts a little straight.
