In 2007 private pilot Uwe Thomas Carstensen took off in his single-engine, rose-painted Cessna “Marie” to fly round the
world in 80 days. In 2011 he flew round Africa in 60 days. And now he’s planning to do the same in South and North America in 80 days.
The trip will start in Hanover, Germany on 23 November 2015. The first leg will take him via Biarritz‚ (France), Cascais (Portugal)
Gran Canaria (Spain) and Dakar (Africa) until he arrives in Brazil on 28 November 2015. And on via Natal, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro,
Cape Horn and the Antarctic until he lands in Santiago. “Marie” will undergo maintenance and servicing here before she starts out on
the second leg of the trip via Latin America, the US, Canada and the Azores in March 2016.
